Mark A. Schmidt, CPA, CVA
Mark Schmidt works with small business owners across many industries, as well as with nonprofit organizations. While these entities require two very different approaches, he knows the decision makers in both camps are looking for one thing from him: results.
As Partner and co-founder of Cuomo, Winters & Schmidt CPAs, LLC, Mark spends most of his time on tax oriented services. He enjoys working with businesses that require the skills and insight that a CPA can provide, but don’t have an in-house CFO or controller.
In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant and a tax practitioner with more than 15 years of planning and compliance experience, Mark is a Certified Valuation Analyst. The combined skillsets increase the value he brings to the firm’s clients, as well as the business and legal communities.
Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), AICPA Forensic Accounting and Business Valuation Services Group, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, Nathaniel Rochester Society, and Lowenthal Business Group. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology as well as a Masters in Accountancy from SUNY Institute of Technology.
Mark is a dedicated volunteer, holding several notable positions in his community over the years. He is the founding member of the Financial Knowledge Institute's Syracuse Chapter and the founder and organizer of the Dave Park Scholarship Fund and its annual fundraiser. He is a member of Leadership Greater Syracuse and a past member of its Finance Committee. Mark is also an AYSO soccer coach and a graduate of the Mentoring for Awareness and Dale Carnegie programs. In the past, Mark has served as vice president of Canine Working Companions, treasurer of Wanderer’s Rest Humane Society, was a member of CNY Edge and acted as a team captain for Relay for Life.
